Proper documentation and the possibility to trace packed instrument trays and containers is essential in case of recalls . This also serves for Patient Record purposes.

STERINTECH offers 2 and 3 line Labels

which can be used for the above purpose with a variety of Labeler Guns.

There are 3 types of Labeler Guns available with us

  • Avery Dennison - Monarch Labeler - 3 liner.
  • Blitz Labeler - 3 liner.
  • 2 Liner Labeler.

The labels are available for STEAM, Ethylene Oxide and PLASMA – H202
sterilization for each labeler gun.

Sterintech Process Indicator Tapes

The Sterintech Process Indicator Tapes are used to tape the packaging materials of wrapped instrument trays. Next to a good stickiness, the tapes, also provide in a ISO 11140 – 1 complaint indicator to distinct processed and unprocessed instrument trays.

Autoclave Tapes

The Sterintech White Steam tapes are used to tape the packaging materials of wrapped instrument trays. Next to a good stickiness the White Steam tapes also provide a ISO 11140 – 1Type 1 steam indicator to distinguish processed and unprocessed instrument trays. The tape materials are produced in accordance with our ISO 13485 based procedures. All working instructions and checking methods are laid-down in our Quality Assurance system which is audited twice a year internally and once year by external auditors.

EO Tapes

The Sterintech EO tapes are used to tape the packaging materials of wrapped instrument trays which are sent for EO sterilization. All chemical indicator inks used for the production are water­ based, environmental friendly inks. Chemical indicators do not contain any heavy metals nor toxic substances .The tape material glue is not containing Natural Rubber Latex.

Plasma Tapes

The SterintechTM Plasma tapes are used to tape the packaging materials of wrapped instrument trays to be sterilized in a plasma cycle. The colour change of the tape is from Red to Yellow.

Sterintech Bowie-Dick Test Systems

The Bowie Dick Test Pack has been a standard test for Hospital Steam Sterilizers since 1963.

At the beginning of every working day the Bowie Dick Test Pack needs to be used to test the performance of each (pre-vacuum) steam sterilizer. At a successful completion of the Bowie Dick Test Cycle the Steam sterilizer can be released for usage during the day.

  • Sterintech has a wide range of Bowie Dick Test Systems depending on the requirement of the hospital.
  • Bowie Dick Test Pack is a single use pack which can be directly placed into the sterilizer. It changes colour from Blue to Violet/Pink.
  • Bowie Dick Test Sheet is a sterilizer testing system where a pack has to be made with Towels on both side , which provide resistance to the Steam to penetrate. The Sheet also changes colour from Pink to Green.
  • Bowie Dick Test Strip is a product which needs to be used along with a 4 mtr Bowie Dick Helix Device.
  • SteriEco Bowie Dick Test Pack is a single use pack which can be directly placed into the sterilizer. It changes colour from Blue to Black.

Sterintech Batch Control Solutions

The STERINTECH BATCH CONTROL HELIX TEST (or BCHT in short) is a test which is recommended by the Dutch RIVM, German Robert Koch Institute and specified in the EN 285 Amendment A;2009 as a Sterilization performance test.

Standard description of a Process Challenging Device consists of a Chemical Indicator Holder connected to a 1.5 mtr long tube. When used in every cycle the BCHT is helpful in detecting early failures during the sterilization cycles.

Failure which are picked-up by the BCHT are:

  • Sterilization temperature too low.
  • Sterilization holding time too short.
  • Insufficient vacuum in depth and in number of vacuum pulses.
  • Insufficient air removal.
  • Insufficient steam penetration.
  • Leakage of piping / valves / door seals.
  • Detection of presence of small volume inert gases in steam supply.
  • Detection of excessive amounts of condensate.

The STERINTECH BCHT's are classified as

  • STEAM -Colour change -Yellow to Black.
  • EO - Colour Change -Red to Yellow.
  • PLASMA -Colour Change -Red to Yellow

STERINTECH In-pack indicators are ISO 11140 compliant and tested by an independent micro-biological laboratory. We provide In-pack indicators for Steam, Ethylene-Oxide and Plasma sterilization

After opening the pack in the operating room, the color of the indicators can be evaluated . The Indicators can be stored as evidence on the patient file.

Sterintech Biological Indicators

The STERINTECH Self Contained Biological Indicators are designed to comply with the ISO 11138 standard . Basically it is a bacillus inoculated strip or metal carrier which is packed together with ampoule inside the plastic vial and closed / sealed with a lid in which a small filter is placed.

The STERINTECH SCBl’s are characterized by the following:

  • SCBI STEAM : Geobacillus Stearothermophilus ATCC 79531x106 Spores per vial
  • SCBI EO : Bacillus Atrophaeus ATCC 9372 1x106 Spores per vial

Sterintech Rapid Biological Indicators

The SterintechTM Quick Read-out Biological Indicators (SCBI) are intended to monitor the sterilization condition at specific places inside the load of a sterilizer. SP Medikal is recommending the use of a BI Helix device in combination with the SCBI in order to ensure that air removal and steam penetration is taking into the equation.

SterintechTM Quick Read-Out Incubator

Intended use of the SterintechTM Quick Read-out Incubator is to incubate and read-out the SterintechTM Quick Read-out Self-Contained Biological indicators. The QR incubator is giving a read-out as from 3-5 minutes after the start of the incubation period. Once the QR Incubator is having a positive fluoresence reading the QR Incubator is printing out a report of the finding. Other brands of Self-Contained Biological Indicators may be used with this incubator after consultancy with SP Medikal.
